How to Get Rid of Hives

  • Home

Because hives can be mild or can signal a more serious allergic reaction, you should always consult your health care provider when you get them. If you get hives in your mouth or throat, get help immediately (in severe cases, they can obstruct breathing).

Hives usually resolve themselves if given time. Applying ice packs may help to reduce their swelling. Hives can last from a few hours or days up to even six months in rare cases. If you have chronic hives, meaning you get them often or they won’t go away, you should definitely see your health care provider.
